Abstract

China's special economy, the socialist market economy, makes its transition fundamentally different. !8 years of reform has totally changed ownership structure and operation mechanism of chinese construction enterprises. Its features both the transition process and the results needed to be understood, sepecially by Western world. This paper provides this understanding, starting with why there is a need to understand the reform of chinese construction enterprises. It then discusses how the ownership of the chinese construction enterprises have changed. A comparison is also made with central and eastern european countries (CEECs) to show what fundamentally different approaches have been taken in reforming the new ownership structure, and what is special in terms of the changing process Some features of three main ownership in the chinese construction enterprises are discussed in more detail. Finally it analyses what special approaches have been adopted in reforming state owned construction enterprises.

N.B. Descriptive scope is a count of how many of the five facets of empirical research are indicated by the words used in title, abstract and keywords. It is not intended as a judgement on the research; merely a count of the kind of word we would expect to indicate Phenomenon, Concepts, Theoretical framing, Empirical techniques, Analytical techniques. If all five are present, then a code of “5 PCTEA” will indicate this. If you feel the coding for this record is questionable, we welcome discussion around the terms we matched or the way we categorized them. The facet you would expect may not be coded, or a facet may be coded inappropriately. This can also bear on a larger question, of which facets should be treated as defining in construction management research. Please get in touch, and we will look at it. More details here
