Abstract
The objectives of this thesis are to study the relevance of computerised modelling techniques to the solution of construction management problems in Egypt and to determine a training programme for undergraduate and postgraduate engineers in that country.The main body of work consists of the following studies:-1. Determination of the time/cost relationship for different kinds of actual construction projects using the Project Cost Model (PCM).2. Appraisal of planning techniques.3. Clarification to the effect of resource allocation on the time/cost relationship.4 Discussion of modelling and modelling problems. In this section special attention has been given to the application of P.C.M.5. In the study of the various relationships between time and money in construction projects the following contracts have been used:-a. The 3 KM. length of concrete box culvert between Ameria pumping station and the boundary of Greater CAIRO, which is part of the the CAIRO WASTEWATER PROJECT currently under construction. This is an example of a large linear project.b The Ameria pumping station as a typical example of a major nonlinear project, which is also under construction as part of the same scheme.6. Discussion and comparison the experimented results.7. Consideration of the re levance of computer modelling techniques as an aid to construction management in Egypt8.Definitions of training requirements for engineers training at Egyptian Universities.
