Abstract
Resources for construction activities are limited in the real construction world. To avoid delays attributable to implementations of resources on a project, the schedule for the work should reflect the allocation of available resources. A new resource allocation algorithm is proposed in this thesis to optimize the allocation of available resources. For the purpose of this research, earned value may be defined as a fraction of the number of required resource for a specific activity to the total number of required resource among competing activities. A dynamic programming technique is adopted to maximize the earned value for each activity. After determining the optimal resource allocation among competing activities, simulation can be executed to calculate the minimum project duration.
