Abstract
A mathematical model of activity duration is described with which the productive and unproductive elements of operative time may be separately analysed. The analysis suggested is stochastic, taking account of the factors which cause the output of operatives to vary and statistical theories developed to allow the use of currently available data in the analysis of the productive element. Sample calculations are given to demonstrate the use of the model.
