Abstract
The architectural, engineering, and construction industry (AEC) forms a major field of investment in both the public and private sectors, and is essential for any other industry to proliferate. Each project has a project life-cycle, starting with the statement of objectives and a scope definition, and ending with project disposal and/or replacement. Throughout the different phases of the project life-cycle, several project management tools can be used by any of the project team members to enhance the performance of the project main functions: Time, cost, and quality, and to ensure the achievement of the project objectives. The application of these tools yields lessons learned, which represent a formal and systematic method of recording the past and current experiences to be used in the future for other projects. This research discusses the application of the state-of-the-art in computer technology in the form of a multimedia system for the acquisition, storage, sorting and retrieval of these lessons learned, integrated together with the recognized project management tools and techniques in the form of an interactive decision support system for project team members.
