Abstract
Takt production is a location-based planning and controlling method that makes schedules more reliable and shortens project durations with no increase in resources by promoting the better use of the workspace. Although several recent publications have discussed takt and how it should be implemented, less attention has been focused on the technical calculations underlying this system, especially during the controlling phase. In contrast, the related location-based management system (LBMS) has well-developed technical calculations for both the planning and controlling phases based on the critical path method (CPM). This paper aims to develop a technical system for takt production by analyzing the conceptual differences between LBMS and takt and then adjusting the LBMS calculations to account for these differences. The proposed new technical system can be used to implement CPM, LBMS, or takt, and it allows planners to decide to use different methods for different parts of projects. The system also accommodates the use of the critical path method, making it compatible with contractual clauses that require CPM.
