Integrated construction management model

Netto, Joaquim Teixeira (2018) Integrated construction management model. PhD thesis, Universidade Federal Fluminense, Brazil.

Abstract

The thesis aims to identify the gaps in construction management models and propose improvements in management and. Initially, a literature review was carried out with the identification of gaps in construction management methodologies, followed by a quantitative survey through a survey questionnaire made available by the internet, with 106 respondents among managers and civil construction planning technicians on the use management of time, cost and value added. Next, a qualitative research was carried out in civil construction companies in Brazil, India, Mexico, Ukraine and Germany to verify the use of methodologies and their effects. Empirical research has identified that most companies have deficiencies in management and that the management methodologies used are not very effective. Based on these results, an integrated construction management methodology (ICMM) was proposed, using recent lean management concepts. The proposed methodology was evaluated in the reform of a pharmaceutical laboratory. The results showed that the use of the management model proposed in this research, despite its simplicity, provided improvements in construction management.

Descriptive scope: 5 PCTEA

N.B. Descriptive scope is a count of how many of the five facets of empirical research are indicated by the words used in title, abstract and keywords. It is not intended as a judgement on the research; merely a count of the kind of word we would expect to indicate Phenomenon, Concepts, Theoretical framing, Empirical techniques, Analytical techniques. If all five are present, then a code of “5 PCTEA” will indicate this. If you feel the coding for this record is questionable, we welcome discussion around the terms we matched or the way we categorized them. The facet you would expect may not be coded, or a facet may be coded inappropriately. This can also bear on a larger question, of which facets should be treated as defining in construction management research. Please get in touch, and we will look at it. More details here
