Zampese, Ednei Rogerio de Souza (2013) Green marketing as a mediating factor between green supply chain management and organizational performance in Brazilian civil construction. PhD thesis, Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, Brazil.
Abstract
According to the environmental impacts reported in the recent decades, organizations have sought ways to turn "green" their supply chain and marketing practices. Based on the approach of the authors of supply chain management and green marketing, the objective of this study was to verify the role played by green marketing between green supply chain management and organizational performance. The methodological procedure was developed in three phases: the initial, exploratory, was an expansion of subject knowledge to support the development of a collecting data instrument from the literature review on both constructs. The subsequent phase was a qualitative study conducted with ten respondents to adjust the statements of the instrument to the reality of the Brazilian civil construction industry. The third phase, descriptive and quantitative, understood the application of validated instrument initially as a in depth pre-test with three experts, followed by application to construction professionals which returned 133 responded questionnaires. After the descriptive statistical treatment and application of techniques of factor analysis, structural equation modeling, the study showed that there was a moderate positive relationship (_=0.555) between green supply chain and organizational performance (p_0.01) and the introduction of green marketing in the model carries the mediation function of this relationship, reducing to _=0.276, which resulted significant for Sobel tests, and Goodman Aroian for p_0,01 . The relationship between supply chain management and green marketing green was positive and high (_=0.753) and between green marketing and organizational performance was positive and low but definite (_=0.365), both significant for p_0.01. Thus, the results of the study indicates that green marketing is a mediating factor in the relationship between GSCM and organizational performance. As implication, organizations in the construction sector can improve their organizational performance by adopting practices in green supply chain management, but they must also look forward to the joint application of green marketing practices, since it is a variable that indirectly leads to improvement on organizational performance.

N.B. Descriptive scope is a count of how many of the five facets of empirical research are indicated by the words used in title, abstract and keywords. It is not intended as a judgement on the research; merely a count of the kind of word we would expect to indicate Phenomenon, Concepts, Theoretical framing, Empirical techniques, Analytical techniques. If all five are present, then a code of “5 PCTEA” will indicate this. If you feel the coding for this record is questionable, we welcome discussion around the terms we matched or the way we categorized them. The facet you would expect may not be coded, or a facet may be coded inappropriately. This can also bear on a larger question, of which facets should be treated as defining in construction management research. Please get in touch, and we will look at it. More details here
