Abstract
Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) has emerged as a sustainable and efficient approach to meet modern construction demands, widely adopted in developed countries. However, MiC is still underutilized in developing regions, where traditional cast-in-situ methods prevail. This paper develops an innovative model to comprehensively evaluate the direct and indirect impacts of key success factors (KSFs) on overcoming challenges (CNs) that hinder MiC adoption in developing countries. The methodology consists of three stages: (1) A systematic literature review identifies KSFs that facilitate MiC adoption and CNs that impede it; (2) A questionnaire survey gathers quantitative data from industry and academic professionals to assess the significance of these factors; and (3) Partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) analyzes the relationships between KSFs and their role in mitigating CNs. Findings reveal a robust correlation between KSFs and the reduction of CNs, indicated by a β-value of 0.777 and a p-value below 0.001. This study will assist governments and decision-makers in developing nations by informing them about the development of targeted interventions to address the CNs and leverage KSFs, thereby promoting increased adoption rates of MiC.
