Abstract
This study aims to analyze the barriers in applying multi-dimensional Building Information Modeling (BIM-nD) in project management, focusing on the relationships and dependencies between these barriers. The study combines Fuzzy Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (Fuzzy DEMATEL) and Social Network Analysis (SNA) methods. Fuzzy DEMATEL is used to identify and analyze causal relationships between barriers, while SNA provides insights into how these barriers interact and influence one another. The main barriers identified include a lack of skilled personnel, a lack of effective leadership in BIM-nD adoption, and the high effort required to convert data into BIM-nD. This helps managers and decision-makers have an intuitive view and come up with upcoming solutions. The study provides a new approach to understanding the barriers in implementing BIM-nD by combining the FDSNA method, offering profound insights into the relationships and the impact intensity between the barriers. The result helps managers identify which barriers are the most critical and should be prioritized for resolution.
